Why I Launched a Pop-Up for You & How to Use it to Your Advantage
It all started with a phone call.
One day on a call with my friend Patty, owner of the furnishing and décor boutique Patina at Home, I asked her to paint a dresser for a client. Forty-five minutes later, we decided that a collaboration was written in the stars for our two small businesses.
For years, Patty and I dreamt up pop-up shop experiences that would perfectly blend our two businesses into a seamless partnership. We both felt strongly that our interior spaces needed to be not only functional, but inspiring. Thus, the More Than Pretty pop-up experience was born!
Talking about this project for so long made me wonder, now that it was finally happening, what it would feel like if we failed. But being brave — taking a bet on yourself — is not without fear. And that’s OK.
Like all big dreams, we wanted our pop-up experience to be everything we’d always hoped for and imagined. Turns out, it’s all we wanted and so much more!
Why a Pop-Up? And Why Now?
A pop-up involves the appearance of a brand or business in a storefront for a short period of time. For this reason, we decided spring of 2021 was the perfect time for our pop-up collaboration to take a step into the sun.
I wanted the More Than Pretty pop-up to be a unique retail experience; I wanted to create something special, unique and evergreen. To accomplish this, I redesigned the Patina at Home shop to elevate Patty’s space and provide a fresh take for longtime customers.
But we knew we had to go further.
We wanted to offer the community a space in which anyone could enter and be inspired. But inspiration can only get you so far… So, we decided to make the experience something our community could take home. That’s where I come in.
Too often people walk through furniture stores, wondering where to start or if the piece they’ve selected will even work.
And how often have those same people wished a professional could be the voice on their shoulder, steering them in the right direction?
That’s the root of why I launched the More Than Pretty pop-up experience, to encourage others to believe in themselves and the potential their home has to offer. The shop is more than pretty stuff you can buy. It’s a place you can come to with questions and most certainly leave with answers.
It’s More Than a Pretty Shop
When someone visits the More Than Pretty pop-up experience — whether they’re a stranger or a longtime friend — I want them to walk into an environment that lifts their spirits, striking inspiration from within.
No one has to come to our pop-up. You won’t find it in your list of need-to-do errands today. But you’ll find yourself there because you’re in search of something truly special. Maybe it’s that one unique piece you’ve been searching for. Or maybe it’s some long-awaited guidance from a professional.
We want you to feel special in our space, because you are just that. Special.
At the end of the day, you deserve a home that makes you happy. Sometimes you just need someone to hand you the tools needed to accomplish that goal.

We’ll See You at the Shop!
The pop-up experience will still be here at least through the end of June, but if we stay longer then you can guarantee the shop will be completely reimagined again for the following three months. It’s all part of the fun!
